Relinkia

Best Practices

Imperfection is built in

The most common fear with a knowledge management tool is that you are doing it wrong. That your notes are too short, your connections too sparse, your inbox too full. That someone else has a more rigorous system.

The mess of today is the material of tomorrow.

Relinkia is designed for imperfect, ongoing thinking — not for a final, polished knowledge base. An incomplete note captured honestly is more valuable than a perfect note never written. The system strengthens from rough edges, not despite them.

The natural flow

Notes mature when they are ready — not on a schedule. The ephemeral → permanent progression is a natural arc, not a process to manage. A note you wrote six months ago as a quick capture might be ready to become a permanent idea today. Or it might not. Both are fine.

1

Write ephemerals freely — capturing is always the right move.

2

Promote a note when you find yourself returning to it, quoting it, or building on it.

3

Let dormant notes rest — they are not failures. Relinkia will surface them at the right moment.

4

Accept concept suggestions quickly — you can always refine later.

Maintenance without overhead

A knowledge graph does not require weekly cleanup sessions. Maintenance happens naturally as you use it: you process a clip here, type a link there, promote a note when it feels ready. Twenty minutes a week of deliberate attention is enough to keep a growing graph healthy.

The Workbench is the right tool for deliberate maintenance moments — not the only one. Most of the work happens passively, as you think.

If maintaining your graph feels like work, something is wrong.Either you are trying to achieve completeness (see below), or you are spending time organising instead of thinking. The graph should serve your thinking — not the other way around.

Let go of completeness

You will never have captured everything. You will never have typed every link. You will always have unprocessed items in your inbox and unmatured ideas in your graph. This is not a problem — it is evidence that you are actively thinking.

The goal is not a complete, perfectly organised graph. The goal is a graph that reflects how you think, grows with you, and occasionally surprises you with a connection you had forgotten. Imperfect, alive, and yours.
