The AI Panel Tabs

The AI panel in the Workbench has four tabs, each offering a different perspective on your notes. Switch between them depending on what you want to explore.

Conversation

Chat with your note: ask questions, request summaries, explore connections. This is where you have a direct conversation with the AI about the content you are looking at. Ask it what you have written about a specific topic, request a summary of a cluster of notes, or ask it to explain the connections you have drawn.

Use this tab when you want to ask questions. The AI answers based on your notes, not external knowledge.

Network

Visualize your note's connections: backlinks, outgoing links, AI-powered connection suggestions. This tab shows the relational structure around a note — what points to it, what it points to, and where the AI sees connections you might have missed.

Use this tab to understand structure. See how a note fits into the larger graph and discover unexpected connections.

Stimulate

Surface tensions in your thinking: contradictions, blind spots, presuppositions; compare two notes directly. This tab helps you challenge your own thinking by highlighting where your notes pull in different directions, where assumptions are hidden, or where you might be missing something.

Use this tab when you want to challenge yourself. The AI surfaces the tensions and contradictions in your thinking.

Evolution

Track how your note has changed over time: versions, edits, history. This tab shows you the edit history of a note — when it was created, what has changed, and how your thinking about this topic has developed.

Use this tab to see your progress. Watch how a note develops as you refine your thinking.

Outline and Metadata

Outline and Metadata, previously accessible as tabs in the AI panel, are now integrated directly into the editor interface. You can access them while editing a note without switching to the Workbench view.
