Connections age
When you create a link between two notes, it records when you made that connection. As time passes without you returning to either note, the link becomes less “fresh” — Relinkia tracks this automatically.
A freshness indicator appears alongside links that have gone untouched for a significant period. It is not an alarm — it is a gentle signal that says: this connection was once important enough for you to create. It might be worth a look.
Fresh link
Recently created or revisited. The connection is active in your current thinking.
Dormant link
Not visited in a while. The connection may still be relevant — or your thinking may have moved beyond it.
Dormant links as signals
A dormant link is not a problem. It is not clutter to clean up. It is an invitation — a note from your past self saying: “I once thought these two ideas belonged together. What do you think now?”
Sometimes the answer is: yes, they still belong together — and you understand the connection better than you did before. Sometimes the answer is: my thinking has moved on. Both outcomes are valuable.
A link you created eight months ago and never revisited isn't a failure. It's an invitation. Relinkia will surface it at the right moment — when you're working near that territory again.
What to do with a dormant link
When Relinkia surfaces a dormant link, you have a few options:
Revisit both notes
Read them with fresh eyes. The connection may make more sense now — or a better type might emerge.
Update the link type
If you understand the relationship better, give it a more precise type. The graph becomes richer.
Promote the connection
If the link has become central to a topic, consider adding it to an index note so it's easier to find.
Leave it
If it doesn't feel relevant right now, ignore it. Relinkia won't resurface it immediately. It will wait.
